The Diamond Solitaire Necklace: A Classic That Is Also A Timeless Beauty

Everyone knows that a diamond solitaire ring makes for a classic item of most loved jewellery. It represents a certain sense of timeless beauty hard for any other jewellery to match. For precisely the same reason, women love a solitaire diamond necklace. A matching set of diamond solitaire ring and necklace is, for many people, the ultimate expression of the beauty of fine diamond jewellery.

Many women prefer the diamond solitaire style over wearing jewellery that boasts clustered diamonds because the appeal and aura of a single large diamond are hard to match. Its stunning effect on the eye of the beholder leaves them gasping in amazement. In fact, for many lovers of diamond jewellery, the diamond solitaire is the single most impressive item surpassing the beauty and popularity of all other jewellery items.

Simplicity Is What You Should Aim For

Typically, the diamond solitaire necklace has a chain made from white gold, and if you ensure that the chain and diamond’s setting personifies simplicity, the effect will be truly stunning. The simpler the setting is, the more the diamond sparkles. When it comes to the shape of the diamond, while you can certainly go ahead and choose from different diamond shapes, including square and oval or even heart-shaped, the overwhelmingly popular choice is the brilliant round cut shape. It is a classic, and it has the most brilliance and sparkle

Gifting diamond solitaire jewellery has been a tradition from very early times. Of course, it has always been the privilege of a very elite class of people. However, after diamonds were discovered in South Africa during the late part of the nineteenth century, the giving of diamond solitaire rings and necklaces became more commonplace.

In general, bigger is better when it comes to diamond solitaire necklaces. You can also pick a smaller sized diamond though it should at the same time give the appearance of being large. This effect can easily be achieved by using the bezel setting. As with any other diamond jewellery, a diamond solitaire necklace can prove to be a very handy investment that will do wonders when times get tough as it will always fetch a good price – even in tough financial times.

Know About Diamonds!

A little knowledge can go a long way when getting the best deal for your diamond jewellery! Whether you want to get a solitaire diamond necklace or any other type, there are a few tips that are going to be helpful for you and ensure that you make the best purchase. More than anything, there are the four C’s to buying a diamond necklace that you want to be aware of, which will help you get more educated to be less confused and more familiar.

You can find out more about diamonds in our educational articles about diamonds and precious metals.

Diamond Cut

The first of the four C’s is CUT. When looking for a diamond necklace, you have to be aware of the cut of the diamond. This does not refer to the shape of the diamond but instead its reflective qualities. You will have to be aware of the cut for a diamond necklace, as this is perhaps the most important of all the four C’s.

When a diamond is well cut, the light will enter the table, travel to the pavilion, and then reflect back out the other side. Therefore, when you find a well-cut diamond, it will be very brilliant and reflective.

Diamond Clarity

Next is the clarity of the diamond, which you also want to be aware of when buying a diamond necklace. Diamonds are graded for clarity under 10x loupe magnification, and you want to be mindful of the flaws in a diamond. The fewer flaws there are, the more expensive it will be.

Diamond Colour

The colour is very important, and this is mostly on personal preference. Colourless diamonds are still the most popular, although other colours (often called fancy colours) are quickly gaining popularity, including yellow and pink. It all depends on what colour you like, but be aware that colourless diamonds are the most reflective of light and will have more sparkle and brilliance.

Diamond Carat Weight

Finally, when purchasing a diamond necklace, you will need to find out the carat weight. A carat is a unit of weight by which a diamond is measured, and keep in mind that because large diamonds are much rarer than smaller diamonds, they are more valuable and thus costly.

Diamond Grading Certificates

Besides learning about the four C’s, another important step is to ask the jeweller you are doing business with to offer you the diamond piece’s certificate. It is not possible to provide grading certificates for very small diamonds. At All Diamond, we certify diamonds larger than 0.50 carats.

If possible, get a certificate from the GIA, the longest established and most highly reputed of the diamond grading labs. At All Diamond, we offer GIA diamond certificates. Avoid certificates that the jeweller writes. It is not possible to rely upon the standards or consistency of these reports. In many cases, your insurer will not recognise these certificates when valuing your jewellery and providing insurance coverage.

This is essential information, all of which will be extremely helpful in assisting you when you are out choosing a diamond piece. The more educated you are, the better off and less confused you will be.
